Head's Update

Headteacher's Update 27th March 2026

We began this week with a rock concert—an unconventional start, but one we thoroughly enjoyed. To celebrate the work of our fantastic partners at Rock Steady, each band performed a track to showcase their talents. Considering how short this term has been, the quality of the performances was remarkable. Ted’s rendition of Pompeii by Bastille certainly had my toes tapping. A huge thank you to all the performers for giving us such a spectacular show.

Families have joined us throughout the week, further strengthening the strong community ethos we are so proud of at King Offa. Following the rock concert, Year 2 welcomed their families for model‑making, and Year 3 demonstrated their historical knowledge in a wonderful assembly on Italy. Parents’ evenings also took place across the week. Thank you to our fantastic PTFA for providing refreshments, and to Rachel from Me and My Mind and Sarah from Usborne Books for supporting the events.

Beyond community activities, we have been quite literally active this week. On Wednesday, we were delighted to welcome former Olympic badminton player and Commonwealth silver medalist, Heather Olver. Supported brilliantly by our Year 6 sports ambassadors, Heather ran a fitness circuit for all pupils from Reception to Year 6. I was exhausted after just one of the exercises—the pupils completed four! Needless to say, they have all well and truly earned their sponsorships. Funds raised will go towards new sports equipment for our school, as well as supporting Great British athletes in achieving their dreams. Sponsorships can be paid online by visiting www.greatathletes.org and clicking “Set up a Fundraiser Page”, or by using the QR code.

The exercise didn’t stop there. We had a wonderful time running—and being covered in paint—during our DOSE Colour Run. Mrs Gale organised a fantastic event that helped us learn how to positively and pro‑socially get those natural feel‑good chemicals flowing. Now that we’ve done our part, it’s over to our washing machines to do theirs!

Our final congratulations this week go to our Year 5 choir, who delivered an outstanding performance at the White Rock Theatre. Performing their very own song, created in partnership with Andy Nunn, they once again ensured King Offa stood out from the rest. Well done, Year 5.

With so much packed into this term, we all thoroughly deserve a rest over the Easter holidays. Stay safe and be kind—we look forward to welcoming pupils back on Tuesday 14th April.
