Headteacher's Update 5th June 2026
Welcome back to our final term of the academic year. We hope you all enjoyed the glorious weather over the May half-term break. Although the sunshine hasn’t stayed with us for our first week back, it certainly hasn’t dampened our spirits or interrupted our busy programme of activities.
In fact, we’ve fully embraced the wetter weather with the start of our weekly swimming lessons. Having our own swimming pool is a wonderful asset and something we are incredibly proud of at King Offa—many pupils see it as a real highlight of their week. A quick reminder to please send children in with their swimming hats for next week’s lessons!
As headteacher, I always enjoy getting involved in school life as much as possible, and celebrating Fred Phonics Day with our Reception to Year 2 pupils was no exception. I did receive a few amused looks from passers-by while welcoming pupils at the gate dressed as an inflatable frog! Our youngest pupils have been working extremely hard on their phonics, and we are thrilled with the progress they are making. The costumes were fantastic—“p-p-p pirate” was certainly the most popular choice! Perhaps this was inspired by the exciting fundraising projects we’ve been running this year for the Key Stage 2 playground development.
Year 4 have also been working very hard as they completed their national Multiplication Tables Check this week. We are incredibly proud of their focus, determination, and positive attitude towards this important milestone. It’s clear how much practice has been taking place at home, and we would like to thank families for their continued support. Confidence and fluency in multiplication are key building blocks in mathematics, and we are committed to ensuring every pupil leaves King Offa fully prepared for the next stage of their education.
Thank you to everyone who completed the recent family survey. We truly value your feedback and look forward to using it to help our school continue to grow and improve. King Offa is such a strong and supportive community, and that is thanks to each and every one of you.
Yours faithfully,
