Head's Update

Headteacher's Update 12th June 2026

This week, we were delighted to welcome Brook Tate back to King Offa. Brook is an artist, performer and the founder of Multicolour Maths. We are honoured that Brook has chosen to work with a group of our Year 3 pupils to help develop their number fluency.

As you can see, the children fully immersed themselves in the sessions, impressing Brook with their creativity and enthusiasm. Oscar and his group particularly enjoyed exploring maths through painting — and we’re pleased to report that the watercolours washed off the hall floor without any trouble!

Brook is developing an exciting approach that helps children access the more abstract aspects of mathematics through colour and pattern. If you would like to find out more, please visit:

Transition to secondary school is an important focus for our Year 6 pupils. This week, they took part in an engaging History lesson delivered by teachers from Bexhill Academy. The visiting staff were highly complimentary of our pupils, praising their maturity, enthusiasm and impressive knowledge. We are very proud of how well our Year 6 children are preparing for the next stage of their education.

At King Offa, we begin preparing children for transition from the earliest stages, building social confidence and resilience over time. As we look ahead to the next academic year, we will soon be sharing further details about the next steps for all year groups.

Congratulations to our Year 1 and Year 4 pupils, who have successfully completed their phonics screening and multiplication tables checks. We have been incredibly impressed with every child’s determination, commitment and composure during these important milestones.

We are confident that they have performed exceptionally well and look forward to receiving the results later this month.

Next week, our focus turns to summer assessments in Reading and Maths. Good luck to all our pupils — we know you can do it!

Yours faithfully,
