Head's Update

Headteacher's Update 19th June 2026

A Busy and Exciting Week at School!

The return of the summer sunshine has come at the perfect time, as many of our classes have been enjoying school trips this week and will continue to do so next week. As part of our Geography and History curriculum, both Year 3 and Year 5 visited the seaside, exploring coastal features while also learning about events from the past.

Year 5 had the exciting opportunity to travel by train to Hastings seafront, where they spent a full day learning and exploring. Of course, alongside all the wonderful learning, the ice cream at the end of the day was a clear highlight! Year 3 enjoyed a slightly more local trip to Bexhill seafront. Both visits were a great reminder of how fortunate we are to live in such a beautiful area. As always, our pupils were fantastic ambassadors for the school while out in the community.

Many of us were also lucky enough to attend the Big Sing at the De La Warr Pavilion on Wednesday evening. Year 4 performed alongside other local primary schools and Mulberry Bexhill Academy. The performance brought great joy to everyone in the audience. Hearing such uplifting songs, delivered with enthusiasm by a choir of smiling pupils, was truly heartwarming. A big thank you to Mrs Andrews, Ms Davey and Mr Lewis for supporting our children in putting together such a memorable performance.

This week, all pupils have been working hard on their summer assessments in reading and mathematics. We have been extremely impressed with their commitment and the confidence they have shown in demonstrating their progress. With three assessment points across the year, these provide us with valuable information about strengths at an individual, class and whole-school level. We use this to carefully monitor progress, adapt our teaching, and celebrate achievements over time. Well done to all—keep up the great work!

We are now looking forward to Sports Day next week. With sunny and warm weather expected, please remember to send your child in with sunscreen, a hat, and plenty of water.

Yours faithfully,
