Headteacher's Update 17th July 2026
Achievement is our fourth school value and is often the result of applying our other three values successfully: Knowledge, Opportunity and Pride.
At King Offa, we are incredibly proud of the fantastic outcomes achieved by our pupils in Early Years, the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check, Year 4 Multiplication and Year 6 SATs. We received our SATs results yesterday and had been eagerly awaiting the news. Smiles quickly spread across the school when we saw just how well our Year 6 pupils had performed.
Following last year's strong results, we knew there would be high expectations, making it a difficult act to follow. We are therefore delighted to share that the percentage of pupils achieving the expected standard in Reading, Writing and Mathematics has improved even further. Although the results will not be officially standardised until the autumn term, I hope you will join me in congratulating our pupils and staff on this wonderful achievement when you next see them.
Staying with the theme of our school values, many families took the opportunity to enjoy our spectacular production of Pirates of the Curry Bean. Learning lines, songs and choreography for such a large-scale performance was a tremendous challenge, especially while performing outdoors. Every member of the cast and crew was exceptional, and I would like to thank them all for creating memories that will last a lifetime. The hilarious cameo appearances from Mr Lewis and Miss Hesmer, who worked so hard behind the scenes to make the production possible, had the audience in stitches.
As we look ahead to Sports Days next week, it has been wonderful to see everyone staying active. A particular highlight has been exploring our new playground equipment. I am convinced I would have made it to the end of the trail had I not been expertly sabotaged by Maisie and Isobel! Perhaps I simply need a little more practice.
Following another warm week, we were very grateful to the PTFA for treating every pupil to an ice cream. It was a refreshing and much-appreciated reward to celebrate all of our achievements.
