Headteacher's Update 30th January 2026
And the winner is… Ivy from Columbus Class!
A huge congratulations to Ivy and her mother, who were crowned champions of the Great King Offa Bake Off. Ivy’s colourful decorations and inspiring message of “Reach for the stars” truly won the judges over. All of our finalists did an incredible job of showcasing our school value of Opportunity, and their delicious creations were gratefully enjoyed by their classmates. Thank you to our judges from Aurora and our Local Academy Board for supporting the event.
Year 3 took part in a very different kind of battle this week during a Roman workshop. It may have been the most civilised battle in history, as pupils showed kindness and respect to the opposing side throughout—a wonderful demonstration of 5‑star behaviour. Despite their best efforts, history stayed the same as the Romans, with their more sophisticated weapons, defeated the Britons once again.
Our theme of competition continues next week as pupils go head‑to‑head with other schools across the Aurora Academies Trust in a Times Tables Rock Stars challenge. The competition is open to Years 3 to 6, and pupils have been set the goal of practising on TTRS at least once a day next week. Please look out for their challenge booklets, which will be sent home on Monday.
Taking Ivy’s advice, let’s all reach for the stars.
