    Headteacher's Update 8th May 2026

It may have been a shorter week due to the Bank Holiday, but it was no less fulfilling.

Year 3 represented our school superbly during their visit to Herstmonceux Science Centre. Ms Hesmer, ever the great sport, delighted the pupils by demonstrating Newton’s laws of physics quite literally—under the force of a hammer! Seeing the knowledge we learn in the classroom brought to life was truly awe-inspiring.

Lunchtimes this week were filled with happiness and colour. Pupils in Years 4 and 5 have now all been trained as play leaders and are ready to take on new responsibilities as school leaders. The chalks were a huge success, transforming our playgrounds with creativity and imagination. Lucy in Year 5 invited us to write our names along a chalk line, symbolising us all coming together as the King Offa family. Eve in Reception proudly showed me her chalk silhouette, alongside the outlines of her classmates and Nursery children. Like many of you, I was relieved to see that the chalk dust wiped off my suit trousers with ease!

Next week, Year 6 will be completing their Key Stage 2 SATs. Pupils and staff alike have worked exceptionally hard throughout the year, and we head into next week with great confidence. With the preparation complete, the week ahead will be a celebration of learning and an opportunity for pupils to show all they have achieved. Have a relaxing weekend, Year 6, and good luck—we are very proud of you.

    Yours faithfully,

    Mr Towner
