Having now completed our second full week of term, we are fully settled into our routines and thriving in our learning.

While listening to Dottie in Year 2 read this week, I was amazed by her confidence and fluency. The story happened to be about shopping for socks, and the pupils were keen to ask what socks I was wearing. We all had a good laugh when it turned out I was wearing a particularly colourful pair that day! Dottie, along with all of our pupils, is making excellent progress thanks to our daily supported reading programme and the valuable reading practice taking place at home.

It is not only our pupils who have been developing their knowledge and skills. Our staff team has also been fully engaged in learning and professional development. We are proud of the strong culture of inclusivity that exists at King Offa, and we are always looking for ways to improve further. This week, we had the privilege of welcoming Mrs Bethany Gillham, Speech, Language and Communication Therapist, who shared valuable insights into the use of visual communication strategies. We also hosted colleagues from across the Aurora Trust for training delivered by Mrs Natasha Freeston for Boosting Reading Programme Tutors. We are incredibly proud to be leading the way and sharing effective practice across our Trust.

There is not long to go until our annual Sponsored Walk. Pupils are eagerly collecting sponsors, and staff are busy completing their daily stretches to make sure we can keep up with them! Family volunteers are very welcome to join us by completing the form below:
