Science
At King Offa Primary Academy, children receive a high-quality Science curriculum which enables our pupils to be knowledgeable, inquisitive and curious.
By delivering a concept driven curriculum, pupils are taught to ‘work scientifically’, in order to understand Earth’s key physical and human processes, including places, people, resources and natural and human environments. Children learn about the concepts of 'Cause and Effect', 'Connections', 'Patterns' and 'Similarities and differences'.
Pupils study three main disciplines of knowledge. These are; biology, chemistry and physics. These disciplines are then sub-divided in to smaller strands to help pupils acquire knowledge about the world around them.
Within Biology, these are;
- Plants
- Living things and their habitats
- Animals including humans
Within Chemistry, these are;
- Materials, including rocks
- Properties of materials
- States of matter
Within Physics, these are;
- Forces
- Light and Electricity
- Sound
- Earth and space
- Seasonal changes
Scientific knowledge is an essential element of the Science curriculum – we want our pupils to learn more, know more and remember more about the world and its scientific origins.
